The workplace is now multi-generational with different communication styles, expectations, values and need for feedback.  There are challenges in getting all of these generational groups to get along.

Marc will cover five generations:  Greatest, Silent, Baby Boomers, Gen X and Gen Y.  The interesting thing is we are familiar with all of these generations because we have grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, cousins, children or grandchildren from all of these generations.

He will discuss the major events that shaped each generation, the technology changes and communication styles of each.  In the end, you will understand the generational echo effects and how the generations interact.

Curt's goal for this presentation is to show you how to employ highly-delineated cost accounting capabilities in your company so that you become more profitable, eliminate competitors, grow revenue and lower both costs and risk.  Are you ready?  Buckle in.  The Standish Group's CHAOS results show just 39% of all projects were deemed successful in 2012, 43% were challenged and 18% failed.  How many of those failed projects were yours?  In this presentation, we'll walk through a five-step process to take your company from chaos to success: 1) Chaos 2) Transition 3) Structure 4)System 5) Order.  In order to achieve this success, you must have effective cost accounting capabilities in place and understand:

1/23/2013 Experiential Innovation for Bankers (Meetings & Events)

January Luncheon Meeting & Program
The Westin Austin at the Domain
11301 Domain Dr. (78758)

Program:  Experiential Innovation for Bankers
If customer experience is about making each individual contact with the bank pleasing, fulfilling, engaging and possibly even fun, how does the sum of those individual experiences turn into a customer relationship and how can banks build true loyalty in mutually beneficial relationships that move beyond simple bank-customer interactions?

  • The shift from individual experiences (contacts) to individual relationships
  • The difference between retention (removing reasons why customers might leave) and loyalty (creating reasons for customers to stay)
  • What is the difference between creating an experience at a point of contact and creating an experience in the overall relationship with a customer?
  • What is required to help your customers understand the benefit of consolidating their financial life in one bank?

In this fast paced and engaging presentation, Michael Ruckman will outline the framework for Experiential Innovation in the banking industry, including comments on how to design, build, measure and manage an experiential banking business.  His experience in retail and SME bank transformations from clients in over 30 countries adds to the examples and stories that are included in his presentation.

8/23/2012 Financial Profitability Mapping: Navigating your Company to a Profitable Future (Meetings & Events)

Austin AFP August Luncheon Meeting
Thursday, August 23

The Wyndham Garden Hotel
3401 S. I-H 35
Austin 78741

Program:  Financial Profitability Mapping: Navigating your Company to a Profitable Future
If there is one single commonality that all corporations share regardless of the industry, size or mission, it is the pursuit of higher profitability. No one knows this better than you in the financial industry. The U.S. Dept. of Commerce reports that while the economy is improving, we’re not out of the woods yet. What does the future hold? Take a moment and envision your company as a map. Think you know where the opportunities lie? Where the profits are? Where the paths to profitability lie? Don’t be so sure. Projects get cancelled due to failure to meet deadlines or budgets all the time; customers leave, the wrong people work on the wrong tasks. Curt Finch, CEO of Journyx, explains in this presentation how to navigate your company to a profitable future and avoid the sinkholes. Finch explains the critical components of profitability – planning, execution and measurement - and provides key guidelines for each, including resource planning, cost estimation, cost accounting data and key performance indicators. This presentation will give you the tools you need to lead your company to a successful and profitable future, investing time and money wisely.

12:00 - 1:00  Program

Program: " What Do You Say - (When You Can't Say 'Yes') - The Influence and Nuance of Redirective Language"

No one likes to hear the word “no”. And, few people like to have to deliver it. Yet often, those responsible for redirecting the behavior of people under normal to extreme influences must first be in control of themselves when they have to say “no”, or when they can’t say “yes”. This presentation will reintroduce you to the strategies and mechanisms of active, responsive “adulting” (including words, language and postures), interpersonal communication, cooperation and relationship – building and positive conflict behaviors through a series of skill exercises. It’s true that in serving the public, one can’t often give people what they want, but by understanding the difference between redirection and punishment, you can more easily help them get what they need.
