Program: "What U.S. Corporate Treasurers Should Know About LIBOR Transition to SOFR by the End of 2021 and Actions to Mitigate Risk" Replacing LIBOR "would be the most profound development in financial markets" for years to come. LIBOR is the rate that banks charge each other for short-term loans, but is also used as the benchmark for other debt instruments. SOFR is based on an overnight rate. If you are a corporate treasurer leveraging financial instruments for your operations (e.g., government bonds, corporate loans) be prepared to manage your risk exposure and negotiate fallback provisions and ISDA agreements. LIBOR will be going away so learn what you can do now.
