Topic: Basel IV Endgame - A Beginner's Guide

The Basel III accord was introduced in 2009 as a sweeping set of banking reforms designed to mitigate risk in the international banking sector and enhance the banking regulatory framework.  Fast forward to 2024 and some of the reforms are still in the process of implementation.  In this session we'll discuss Basel III, what's been implemented, and what's on the horizon.  In this session, you'll also learn about Basel IV in layman's terms.

In his current position, Ernie is responsible for a staff of treasury management professionals, providing treasury management product solutions and support to clients in the Veritex footprint. 

In his previous position, Ernie worked for BBVA Compass Bank for 16 years, serving as, TMO, Public Funds Champion and Texas Regional Treasury Solutions Executive. As the Public Funds Champion, Ernie was responsible for developing the public funds strategy for BBVA Compass Bank and during his tenure, public funds deposits grew from $800M to $3.5B

Before joining BBVA Compass Bank, Ernie spent 16 years at JPMorgan Chase, including 6 years as a Commercial Banker and 3 years as a Private Client Advisor.  Prior to Chase, he spent 3 years at South Main Bank as Credit Officer and Compliance Officer. Ernin has 38 years of banking experience and 18 years of Treasury Management experience.
